Fashion in the country is a difficult thing. I look around and, for the life of me, I can't see a single style to go by. I mean, if you watch Goddess Martha on TV, she has an appropriate outfit for every function. She has her cooking/kitchen outfits, her crafty outfits and her day trip outfits. Her working-in-the-garden ensemble is gumboots, work pants and casual tops that probably cost the equivalent of my entire life's wardrobe. Look around here and you see...what?...polyester and denim, with the occasional cotton work shirt thrown in. Oh, we do have gumboots, but they're bought at the dusty old feed store and you have to shake them out before putting them on to check for bugs. Ever see Dear Old Martha shake out her boots? Never. Actually, she probably has someone on staff do it for her. |
